Recently, in the dental press, there has been great interest shown in work that has been done for sufferers of Tourettes Syndrome by Dr Brendan Stack in America.
He found, that, by placing mouthguards of varying thickness into patients mouths, he was able to achieve complete reduction in some cases and lessening in many cases, of the muscular and vocal ticks that afflict Tourettes sufferers.
It must be recognised that there have been no scientific studies done nor peer reviews and so all the results are purely anecdotal at this stage.
However, Dr Stack has been actively treating patients for quite a while and his results have been encouraging to say the least.
While we cannot predict outcomes it is quite simple to construct the mouth-guards.
