Secure your FREE* new patient check up and clean today

The clean that changes how you feel about the dentist.
Traditional cleaning involves using an ultrasonic scaler to physically scrape away plaque and tartar off your teeth, often causing unnecessary discomfort. We use the EMS Airflow® System, a revolutionary system that uses warm water and a fine powder to gently remove biofilm and plaque off your teeth, saving the ultrasonic for what it’s best at, removing hardened tartar.

Gentle on your enamel

Over time, overly aggressive polishing paste and manual scraping can wear away enamel, leading to hyper-sensitivity over time. It is important your teeth are cleaned in a way that preserves your natural enamel

Tooth enamel surface before cleaning

The enamel prisms of the natural tooth enamel are easily recognisable. Remnants of bacteria killed off with sodium hypochlorite are visible.

Tooth enamel after polishing with low-abrasive paste

The vital enamel prisms have been polished away and the paste has caused scratches. Biofilm has been spread into natural crevices. Overall abrasive pastes cause a loss of valuable enamel which over time can lead to hypersensitivity. No improvement of the dental surface.

Tooth enamel after cleaning with Airflow PLUS powder

The biofilm has been completely removed. The surface is clean down to the pores. No abrasion. The enamel prisms remain intact and the surface is perfectly smooth. The tongue no longer feels any roughness and thee is no need for polishing with abrasive pastes. This preserves your enamel.

Why are regular check-ups important?

Dental problems typically don’t happen overnight, short of breaking a tooth! But dental problems can certainly progress over the course of several months to the point where more drastic and costly intervention is required. This is why it is recommend to get a check up every 6 months, so any issues can be identified and addressed before expensive and drastic action is required.

Think of it as servicing your car. To prevent long term issues, it is important to have it serviced regularly, even if it’s running perfectly well and not giving you any issues. The same is for teeth. Just because they feel fine and healthy does not mean that all is well and good.

For particularly nervous patients, or depending on personal preferences, sedation aids are available.

Ivo Smilek

Director

Hi, i’m Ivo, part owner and practice manager at Millennium Dental Mosman. My journey didn’t start in dentistry, it began in finance. Along the way I’ve discovered that what truly motivates me is helping people feel cared for and supported. That’s what lead me to build a practice where compassion, comfort, and genuine connection come first.

Dentistry can be intimidating, and I’m committed to creating a space where patients feel listened to, respected, and confident that they’re in good hands. I’ve continued to invest in the latest technology to ensure our patients experience the very best dental care possible. The practice is more than a workplace, it’s a community of shared values.

Outside of work, I love spending time with my children and taking them on camping adventures.
