Who needs a mouthguard?
Anyone who participates in a sport that carries a significant risk of injury should wear a mouthguard. This includes a wide range of sports like football, hockey, basketball, baseball, gymnastics and volleyball. A properly fitted mouthguard is especially important for people who wear braces or have fixed bridge work as it’s no use receiving restorative dental procedures if you’re going to put your teeth in danger during sporting activities.
Problems with store bought mouth guards
Store brought over the counter Mouthguards do not fit as well nor do they provide the anticipated and necessary protection to help prevent dental facial injuries. The only sports mouthguard that should be worn is that made from a model of your own unique mouth.
Here at Millennium Dental Mosman we know that patients have individual requirements for fit, comfort and level of competition. This is why our mouthguards are professionally designed and custom made to satisfy all safety and personal requirements.
Once we construct your personalised mouthguard the only thing left up to you is compliance. It is absolutely imperative that you comply to the use of your mouthguard as accidents can happen at any time on the field or court. A properly fitted mouthguard can prevent broken teeth as well as injuries to the lips, tongue, face or jaw by ensuring proper oral posture is maintained at all times throughout your activity.
Millennium Dental Mosman always puts the health and safety of their patients first. Any recommendations that we prescribe will always have your best interests at heart, and if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact Dr Rosenberg or one of his supporting staff members.
